Residents of five different nursing homes in the Norman area received a special treat this Valentine’s Day.Several students from the University of Oklahoma and members of the Norman community shared the love by taking cards to the senior citizens.
Volunteers used their creative talents to design a variety of bright colored and encouraging homemade cards. The help of the volunteers reminded more than 1,000 nursing home residents that they are loved this Valentine’s Day.
The LoveWorks Ministry headed up the event February 7. Nursing homes receiving homemade Valentine’s Cards included Whispering Pines, Holiday Heights, Grace Living Center, Cedar Creek Living Center and Brookhaven Extensive Care all of Norman.
“One man, Joel, that I met with said he had not received a Valentine card in five years and this was very special to him,” said Shar Rother, LoveWorks Coordinator.“It was a success and could be a new annual LoveWorks event on Valentines Day!”
