Revive Our Hearts Ministry hosted a True Woman conference in downtown Ft. Worth this past weekend. Thanks to the pastor’s wife from my home church and a very kind lady, I was given a ticket free of charge. Speakers, including Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Mary Kassian, Carolyn McCulley and Kay Arthur, spoke about what it means to be a true woman of God. Several breakout sessions were offered on more specific topics, such as Women’s Global Issues, Motherhood, Marriage, Gender and Moral Purity. And various ministry organizations had display tables with merchandise for free and for purchase.
Because of class and homework, I was only able to attend three main sessions throughout the weekend. But they were quiet enjoyable and very challenging. Here are some things that I learned:
Next time Satan brings up your past, bring up his future.” – James MacDonald
We as women are broken and we need one another. We need to be open and honest about our struggles to know we are not alone. We also need to pray for one another and encourage one another. In church our pastor says, “There are two things you cannot do alone: get married and be a Christian.”
There is no man on the face of this earth that can ever meet the deepest desires of my heart.
My favorite part of the conference was talking with the different ministry organizations and seeing how God is at work around the state and around the world. (My prayer is that some day I will serve with an amazing ministry like one of these.)
In a world that tells what we have to look like and how to use our bodies to get what we want, it’s hard to be the women God created us to be. GirlsGoneWise and Unlocking Femininity are two resources I found which are encouraging women and offering Biblical wisdom. I spoke with several girls from Southwestern who blog for Unlocking Femininity.
Another fellow Southwesterner I met introduced me to a ministry called Sisters In Service. Their motto is “New Life for Abused and Exploited Women and Girls.” Lifetree Adventures is another ministry that reaches out to those in need around the world offering short term mission opportunities. I was also given a magazine by “the Voice of the Martyrs” telling stories of those who have given their lives in ministry service.
I am very excited to learn more about these ministries and was very blessed meeting those who are currently surrendering their lives for the sake of Christ. I hope you can be encouraged by this information and be inspired to serve where you are and wherever God might take you.
