I have officially arrived at Glorieta Summer Camps! I can’t believe that it’s here. It has been such a delight catching up with returning summer staff and meeting the new staff members, seeing the familiar camp grounds and admiring all of the new renovations, remembering all of the fun, crazy experiences from last summer and making new memories this year.
As the photojournalist, I have a brand new office this year! The Media Team (consisting of me and the videographer) are set up in our own space complete with sparkling Christmas lights and a William Hook wall painting. We also have instant access to the camp Canteen, full of snacks and camp attire. I will add a picture as we complete the decor.
The Media Team has also decided to officially document “The Official List of Why Christine and Cooper Have the BEST Jobs at Camp” this summer. Beginning with:
1. No CPR or First Aid training. Which means decorating an office instead of yelling “Are You OK?” to the rubber manikin. Granted we won’t be much help if someone gets hurt, but we will have a sweet office space.
Training week will begin tomorrow evening. The kids coming is one week out. Please keep us in your prayers as we start training. It will be a very intense week of staff team building activities, setting up the campsite, reviewing camp policies, and spiritually preparing to minister to our campers.
Specific requests include –
- Keeping focus on the ministry at hand
- Building unity within our staff team
- Asking God to prepare the children’s hearts as they get ready for camp
