$25 for 26 People

Blogtember: Coffee Shops

This afternoon, I met with a fellow member of the Public Relations Society of America at a coffee shop in our city.  My husband and I are looking for ways to get involved with local ministries, and she happens to work for a ministry called Reaching Souls International that trains church leaders and supports orphans in Africa, India and Cuba!

I have such a passion for international missions, that I could have listened to her stories ALL DAY long!  The ministry currently supports a total of 474 orphans in Africa and India.  For just $25/month children receive education, clothing, food and housing!!

I don’t know about you, but I spend more than $25 on my cell phone, on television programming, on one item of clothing, on food, on gas for my car, on Starbucks drinks, on a haircut…my list could go on and on and on!  For what would be a very small sacrifice for us in America will meet a HUGE need for a child living overseas.

The Reaching Souls website says, “The orphan crisis in Africa is epic in scale: millions of children have been made orphans due to AIDS, war, lack of drinking water, famine, malaria, and other diseases. In Scripture we are given direction for our response to this great need. James 1:27 says “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction.””

The ministry She is Safe reports, “When you empower a girl, it will impact the lives of 26 people around her.”  So, your $25 dollars will reach up to 26 people in one community!!

That’s sooooo much better than five double shot espressos, or a new shirt.  I challenge you to consider how you can make small sacrifices to make a difference in the world.
